NEWS FROM CITY HALL
U
Ward 1
Ward 2
Ward 3
A MESSAGE FROM MAYOR CHRIS LEH
Like many of you, I try to spend
a few moments each day
considering the people for whom
I am especially grateful. Today,
I want to review some of the
milestones we've reached and
some we intend to reach soon. But
first, I want to express my gratitude
to you, the members of our
community, both for the public trust you have placed all
of us on City Council, but also for the input provided to
us and our City Staff. We cannot thank you enough!
Civic conversation is the life blood of Louisville's
representative democratic government. This spring,
we challenged you with new opportunities to weigh
in on Louisville's Comprehensive Plan update, the
potential regional minimum wage, and much more.
How have you met the challenge? You've responded
to surveys; offered thoughtful comments at meetings
of City Council, Boards and Commissions, and in open
houses; and you have emailed and talked with your
Councilmembers and with me.
Through that robust civic engagement, I've gained an
even deeper appreciation for the love you have for our
community, dreams for it, and commitment to improving
it. Together, we have accomplished much together,
including:
► Use Tax Relief for Marshall Fire Survivors With
Smoke/Ash-Damaged Homes. Council approved a
use tax rebate or credit to survivors of the Marshall
Fire whose homes suffered heavy damage but not
total destruction.
► Steps to Strengthen Economic Vitality. We are
making it easier to do business in Louisville, refining
MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL
Mayor Chris Leh
Caleb Dickinson (Mayor Pro Tem)
Tim Bierman
Deborah Fahey
Judi Kern
our planning rules and processes to improve their
predictability, consistency, speed, and fairness,
while maintaining accountability and safety. We
welcomed a new Economic Vitality Manager who is,
along with Council's Economic Vitality Committee,
reaching out to businesses and developing new
ways to retain and expand our business community.
► Continued Progress on the Marshall Fire Rebuild.
As of mid -May, 206 families have moved home, and
another 218 homes are under construction or in the
permitting process. I'm so proud of those survivors
who have sacrificed much and worked so hard to
return to Louisville! We appreciate the efforts of all
the individuals, multiple Louisville City departments
and other government representatives at all levels,
and nonprofits (Marshall Together, the ROC, and
others). They have continued to help clear a path
to recovery.
► Approval of Louisville's Housing Goals. We set a
foundation for progress on affordable housing.
Summer is just around the corner. What is in store for
City government and the community?
► Progress on the Vision & Values portion of the
Comprehensive Plan
► Pride Month
► Resilience Regulations
► 2024 Community Survey
► Juneteenth
► Opening of Memory Square Outdoor Pool
► Independence Day & Labor Day Celebrations
Thanks again for all your involvement. We hope you
continue engaging even as we move into the summer
of 2024!
Leh@LouisvilleCO.gov
CDickinson@LouisvilleCO.gov
TBierman@LouisvilleCO.gov
DFahey@LouisvilleCO.gov
JKern@LouisvilleCO.gov
Dietrich Hoefner DHoefner@LouisvilleCO.gov
Barbara Hamlington BHamlington@LouisvilleCO.gov
303.668.3916
303.495.8219
720.391.5861
720.320.5539
720.724.5684
720.419.5030
269.277.7673
The City Council generally holds regular meetings the first and third Tuesdays of each month at City Hall, 749 Main
Street, at 6 PM.
