Recreation Advisory Board
Minutes
November 25, 2024
Questions:
• Are there other funding avenues?
• Are there grant opportunities? Who can find them and write proposals?
• How can funds that are raised or donations be designated for specific
projects?
• What are the ramifications of the "quasi -enterprise" designation of the
Golf Course?
• How does a group like the Louisville Public Library Foundation, with its
"Friends of the Library" program, coordinate with the City to support
designated projects? Would this be the same process for a major project
such as a new clubhouse? Is it necessary to incorporate as a 501(c)(3)?
Mary O'Brien asked how the ice-skating rink is doing. Kathy said that
everything is going well. Deb Fahey added that a broomball group came to
City Council last week to complain that they are not allowed to play this
year. The broomball players said that the manager found a beer can on the
rink last year, and that was the reasons for banning them. Rentals after
hours are decided by the manager.
Michele Van Pelt reported that a Stair Stepper is not working. Kathy will
check on it.
After discussion, RAB members decided that there will be no meeting in
December.
Kathy reported that applications for Board positions are up this year.
Discussion Items for Next Meeting, January 27
Introduction of Board Members
Election of Officers
Funding Information with the Finance Director
Update from the Parks and Rec Director
Staff Updates
Board Updates
Adjourn — The meeting was adjourned at 7:20.
Motion: Lisa Norgard
Second: Michele Van Pelt
