Local Licensing Authority
2024 Annual Report
January 29, 2025
Page3of3
While there were no violations by licensees reported to the Authority by the
Louisville Police Department, there were two instances of criminal activity
targeting marijuana and liquor licensed businesses within Louisville.
• Approximately 53 underage defendants were sentenced through Louisville
Municipal Court in 2024 for purchasing marijuana at a single retail store
using false identification. It was determined that the ID reader at the store
was malfunctioning. When the owners of the store discovered the issue,
they fixed the faulty equipment and worked with the Louisville Police
Department to identify the underage individuals. Each defendant received
a sentence of 25 hours of community service, completion of a drug class,
a $100 fine and a 600-word essay to the court.
• In July, an individual targeted liquor licensed restaurants in town. The
individual told either the owner or the manager of the restaurant that she
worked for the state and there was an issue with their liquor license. She
told them they needed to give her the license on the wall and pay $100 to
have the license reissued. Unfortunately, one owner complied with the
request. The manager at another location demanded to see the
credentials of the individual and she left the scene. The manager called
the Authority Secretary to inform her of the incident and she immediately
notified the Louisville Police Department and all other license holders in
the City.
The Authority wishes to extend its gratitude to the Louisville City Council for their
ongoing support.
Approved by the Louisville Local Licensing Authority this 29th day of January
2025.
Chairperson
Local Licensing Authority
ATTEST:
Genny Kline
Interim City Clerk
