1/21/25, 10:05 AM Louisville, CO Code of Ordinances <br />Chapter 5.16 - MASSAGE PARLORS <br />Footnotes: <br />--- (1) --- <br />State Law reference— Minimum standards, C.R.S. § 12-48.5-101 et seq. <br />Sec. 5.16.010. - Definitions. <br />As used in this chapter, the words set out in this section shall have the following meanings unless the <br />context indicates otherwise: <br />Massage means pressure upon or friction against, or stroking, rubbing, kneading or other manipulation <br />of the body by means, with or without apparatus, including but not limited to vibrators, infrared heat, sun <br />lamps, and external baths. <br />Massage par/or means an establishment or place of business where any person, association, firm, or <br />corporation engages in, conducts, provides or carries on, or permits to be engaged, conducted, provided, or <br />carried on any massage. <br />Massage therapist means any person 21 years of age or older who has graduated from a massage <br />therapy school, accredited by the state educational board or division charged with the responsibility of <br />approving private occupational schools, or from a school with comparable approval or accreditation from <br />another state with transcripts indicating completion of at least 500 hours of training in massage therapy. If <br />the school is located in the state, it must meet the qualifications established by C.R.S. § 12-59-101 et seq. or <br />other applicable statutes pertaining to vocational education. <br />Operator means any person, partnership, association, firm, or corporation who owns, operates, or <br />manages a massage parlor. A manager of a massage parlor must be 21 years of age or older. <br />(Code 1977, § 5.16.010; Ord. No. 532-1977, § 1.1; Ord. No. 1047-1991, § 1) <br />Sec. 5.16.020. - Exemptions. <br />The following classes of persons and establishments are exempted from the regulations of this chapter: <br />A. Physicians, osteopaths, physical therapists, chiropodists, podiatrists, or chiropractors licensed <br />to practice in this state while performing such services in the practice of their respective <br />professions; <br />B. Registered nurses and licensed practical nurses who are licensed to practice in this state while <br />performing such services in their usual nursing duties; <br />C. <br />about:blank 1/5 <br />
