Cityof ECONOMIC VITALITY COMMITTEE <br />Louisville <br />COLORADO • SINCE 1878 <br />SUBJECT: STAFF UPDATES <br />DATE: APRIL 10, 2025 <br />PRESENTED BY: VANESSA ZARATE, CECD, ECONOMIC VITALITY MANAGER <br />AUSTIN BROWN, ECONOMIC VITALITY SPECIALIST <br />SUMMARY: <br />In the following, staff provides updates on recent activity related to economic vitality <br />functions. <br />Sundance is Coming to Boulder <br />The Sundance committee announced that the festival will be moving to Boulder from <br />2027-2037. This is a big win for Boulder and the surrounding communities as this will <br />bring significant tourism to the area during the slowest time of year for many <br />businesses. Staff has been working with partners in Boulder County and the Office of <br />Economic Development and International Trade to support the recruitment of the <br />festival and will continue to work with partners to welcome Sundance and visitors to our <br />community. <br />Downtown Colorado Inc Best Project Nomination <br />The Downtown Vision Plan was nominated as one of three finalists for Best Project at <br />DCI's annual award ceremony. The plan was nominated as "a forward -thinking plan <br />focusing on creating a dynamic, people -first downtown that balances growth with <br />preserving the town's unique character". <br />Professional Development Committees <br />Vanessa, Economic Vitality Manager, was appointed to both the Economic <br />Development Council of Colorado's and the International Economic Development <br />Council's Professional Development boards. These boards provide networking, training <br />and professional development to practitioners across Colorado and the world. Through <br />these boards, Vanessa is learning best practices and new techniques that she can <br />continue to implement and celebrate in Louisville. <br />CHIPS Designation <br />Staff has been working to put together a CHIPS Zone application for Redtail Ridge and <br />the Colorado Tech Center. This application was submitted to the State's Office of <br />Economic Development and International Trade along with a resolution of support from <br />the Louisville City Council. This application is being reviewed by the Economic <br />Development Commission at their April meeting. <br />
