Economic Vitality Committee
Meeting Minutes
April 10, 2025
Page 2of4
Manager Zarate responded that she had just met with some South Boulder
Road businesses that are attempting to work together to activate their area.
She added that this effort was largely a result of the February Business Beat for
South Boulder Road businesses and offered that the McCaslin businesses may
be able to do something similar.
Manager Zarate added that the King Soopers announcement seems to have
revitalized the McCaslin area. Councilmember Fahey agreed and asked if there
was any update on the CU property. Director Zuccaro responded that CU will
likely have a brief presentation for City Council in the next couple of months.
Public Comment from Gillian Millar, Executive Director of the Louisville
Chamber of Commerce:
Ms. Millar commented that the Chamber has had some successful
programming in the McCaslin area gave an update on the Feel Good Festival
that will be held October 18th at Relish.
7. Economic Development Week 2025:
Manager Zarate gave an overview on Economic Development Week and
proposed a City Council proclamation to recognize May 12-16, 2025 as
Economic Development Week.
Councilmember Fahey responded that it is a great idea and confirmed that
Council would be likely to pass the proclamation. She also requested that staff
include additional supplemental material with the proclamation explaining what
Economic Vitality has accomplished over the last couple of years. She clarified
that she would also like to see a short summary of how EV staff helps support
and promote businesses.
Councilmember Kern agreed, adding that it would be helpful to clarify what the
proclamation is trying to accomplish and how staff is hoping to accomplish it.
She continued, asking how often staff would be posting or engaging with the
business community, and what sort of groups or organizations staff might be
working with to help achieve the goals of the proclamation.
Councilmember Fahey asked whether it would be possible for there to be some
sort of ED Week presence at the Farmers Market during the Saturday of ED
week. Staff confirmed that they will look into that possibility.
8. Potential Other Agenda Topics/Updates:
Manager Zarate asked the EVC if there was any additional information that they
would like to see included in future packets. She also provided a couple of
options, including monthly sales/lease data; relevant partner updates; and a
new business list.
