<br /> .. <br /> [}Jflj@fA&T? <br /> City Council <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> December 19, 2006 <br /> Page 12 of 13 <br /> CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br /> Interim City Manager Balser requested Land Management Director Robson <br /> update Council on Capital Projects and Public Works Director Phare to give a <br /> brief update on the City's Safe Routes to Schools Grant Program. <br /> Robson updated Council on improvements to Pirates Park, which included <br /> replacement of basketball court and added skate features. He explained the City <br /> of Louisville and the Boulder Valley School District entered into a cost share <br /> agreement for the project. He hoped to work with the School District on other <br /> projects. He reported on the completion of the Coal Creek Trail and the <br /> Davidson Mesa Trailhead improvements. He reported the City of Louisville and <br /> Design Concept was awarded the American Society of Landscape Architects <br /> Merit Award for 2006 for the design of Community Park. <br /> Phare reported the Public Works Department was contacted by representatives <br /> from the Louisville Elementary School regarding a possible application for Safe <br /> Routes to Schools Grant. These Grants are available to all schools within the <br /> City. He voiced his belief the program warrants more effort and suggested a <br /> team approach from all City Departments. The goal is to improve the walk ability <br /> to all neighborhood schools. Due to the years end, he stated this activity would <br /> be a 2007 project. <br /> Interim City Manager Balser reminded Council the study session for December <br /> 26 has been cancelled. The next regular Council meeting will be January 2, <br /> 2007. <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Mayor Sisk stated the City could do a better job on acquiring grants. He urged <br /> Council to pursue grants and suggested hiring a consultant. He reported the <br /> Finance Committee adopted a City Investment Policy. He thanked Finance <br /> Director Leslie, City Attorney Light and Bond Counsel. He also thanked Council <br /> members Sackett and Marsella for their service on the Finance Committee and <br /> their support of the Investment Policy. He addressed business retention and <br /> development in the City and commended the BRaD Committee and Mayor Pro <br /> Tern Brown. <br /> Mayor Pro Tern Brown stated BRaD would engage in a concerted training effort <br /> in 2007, to enable members to meet and have discussions with the local <br /> businesses. He reported the DRCOG updated version of the Metro Vision <br /> Transportation Plan uses strong language concerning regional airports. He <br /> stated he received a letter from DRCOG regarding a meeting where communities <br /> could discuss the concerns on such issues as aviation noise. <br />
