Herbicide applications occurred on select Open Space properties on May 13-16. <br />Additional treatment days are scheduled for June 3-6 and June 17-20. <br />3. Information for the three new interpretive panels has been submitted to the contractor <br />for development. <br />4. Staff is continuing our subscription for biocontrol with the Colorado Department of <br />Agriculture's insect program. Deliveries for Dalmation toadflax and bindweed are <br />expected in June. <br />5. Cattle have finished grazing on North Open Space and have moved to Damyanovich <br />Open Space, after Damyanovich Open Space they will finish off the spring grazing season <br />at Davidson Mesa. <br />6. Staff released the signup for the City of Louisville & CNHP Bioblitz, registration is now <br />full! Waitlist spots are available. <br />7. Staff completed a revamp of the Dutch Creek Pocket Prairie adding roughly 20 new <br />forbs, removed and transplanted Artemisia ludoviciana at Aquarius. <br />Maintenance & Trails: <br />1. Staff have been hard at work completing trail corridor mowing throughout the Open <br />Space trail network. <br />2. Staff installed two new waterbar features at Aquarius Open Space out of StaLock, a <br />polymer mixed crusher fine material that should be more resistant to erosion from <br />precipitation and use. This is one of the test locations discussed in last month's updates. <br />These drainage structures are being utilized to improve proper watershed and assist in <br />the longevity of the trail. <br />3. The "Installation of Trail Access & Emergency Closure Infrastructure Project 2024" has <br />been closed out with the contractors, and the project is completed. Staff plans to install <br />reflective decals on the gates and their structures to ensure visibility and safety. As well <br />as install informational metal signs on the gates to inform trails users of closures and <br />hazardous conditions. <br />4. Staff has completed the relocation and installation of the Open Space trail counters in <br />strategic locations throughout the Open Space network. The new locations will help the <br />Open Space Human Dimensions pilot program accrue data to indicate amounts of usage. <br />Staff also utilizes Strava to compare the counts collected by the city' trail counters for <br />accuracy and as a control. They are now located as follows 2 at Dutch Creek, 1 at Harper <br />Lake, and 1 at Hecla Lake. <br />5. Staff plans to meet with Denver Regional Council of Government or DRCOG for their <br />installation of trail counters on 104th Street trail on June 3, 2025. Staff plans to discuss <br />their human dimensions program structure and how they use the collected data. The <br />hope is to learn from their experiences and successes to help improve the City's program. <br />
