The session will include all members of the City Council, Recruiter
Valerie Phillips of Bob Murray and Associates, City Attorney Kathleen Kelly, Interim City
Manager Samma Fox, and Interim Deputy City Manager Meredyth Muth.
Councilmember Fahey seconded the motion.
Aye: Leh, Dickinson, Cooperman, Fahey, Kern, Hamlington, Hoefner
Nay: None
Absent: None
Council adjourned into executive session at 5:07 pm.
The Council reconvened at 8:22 pm.
REPORT — DISCUSSION / DIRECTION / ACTION — RECRUITMENT/PERSONNEL
MATTER
City Attorney Kelly reported that the executive session was held to review records of
City Manager applicants, none of whom are finalists. To maintain confidentiality,
applicants were assigned numbers, and Council should refer only to those numbers
when deciding who remains in the pool.
Mayor Leh noted that Council has been reviewing six candidates and will determine
how many to retain in the pool. He suggested keeping four to allow flexibility in case one
withdraws.
Councilmember Hoefner selected candidates 1, 2, 4 and 6.
Councilmember Kern agreed and selected 1, 2, 4 and 6.
Councilmember Fahey selected 1, 2, 4 and 6.
Councilmember Hamlington thanked her fellow councilmembers, staff and the
consultant for their work and agreed with 1, 2, 4, and 6.
Councilmember Cooperman expressed appreciation for interviewing four candidates
and indicated his preference to move forward with candidates 2, 4, and 6, with
candidate 1 as a backup.
Mayor Pro Tem Dickinson agreed on candidates 2, 4, and 6 and supported selecting an
alternate during the hiring process. While he preferred candidate 5 as the alternate, he
was comfortable with candidate 1 based on the consensus.
