City Council <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> January 18, 2011 <br /> Page 3 of 5 <br /> Mayor Sisk announced he would not be present at the January 25 study session as he <br /> will be attending the RTD Board meeting. He addressed the tragic events, which <br /> occurred in Tucson, Arizona and expressed his condolences to the families who were <br /> impacted by the tragedy. <br /> REGULAR BUSINESS <br /> ORDINANCE No. 1587, SERIES 2011 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER <br /> 2.32 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE TO INCREASE THE SALARY OF THE <br /> PRESEIDING MUNICIPAL JUDGE 2 Reading Public Hearing <br /> Mayor Sisk requested a City Attorney introduction. <br /> City Attorney Light read Ordinance No. 1587, Series 2011. <br /> Mayor Sisk opened the public hearing and requested a Staff presentation. <br /> City Manager Fleming explained each year the City does a salary survey for employees <br /> to insure their compensation is competitive within the market, however the salary of the <br /> Presiding Municipal Court Judge has not been reviewed or increased since 2007. A <br /> salary survey for Presiding Judges was conducted and it was determined an increase in <br /> the Presiding Municipal Judge's salary from $1,600.00 per month to $2,000.00 per <br /> month was appropriate. The increase in 2011 to the Presiding Judge's annual salary is <br /> $4,800.00. <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> Mayor Sisk reported the Legal Committee reviewed the ordinance and recommended <br /> approval of the increase in pay for the Municipal Judge. He anticipated looking at the <br /> judicial salary again in the next year. Mayor Sisk closed the public hearing. <br /> MOTION: Councilor Sackett moved to approve Ordinance No. 1587, Series 2011, <br /> seconded by Councilor Muckle. Roll call vote was taken. The motion carried by a vote <br /> of 7 -0. <br /> RESOLUTION No. SERIES 2011 A RESOLUTION SETTING THE COMPENSATION <br /> FOR THE DEPUTY MUNICIPAL JUDGE <br /> Mayor Sisk requested a Staff presentation. <br /> City Manager Fleming stated the Deputy Municipal Judge compensation has not been <br /> increased since 2007. A similar salary survey was conducted for Deputy Judges from <br /> surrounding municipalities. It was determined an increase from $300.00 per session to <br /> $325.00 per session, over whiich the Deputy Judge presides, was appropriate. <br />
