City Council <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> February 15, 2011 <br /> Page 4 of 6 <br /> APPLICANT PRESENTATION <br /> Kevin Wall, CEO of the National Entertainment Network, Inc., stated he was available to <br /> respond to Council questions. <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> Councilors inquired whether Mr. Wall was approached by Broomfield, or whether he <br /> approached Broomfield about a financial incentive package. Mr. Wall noted he <br /> contacted Broomfield. Councilors inquired whether National Entertainment Network <br /> customers stay in Louisville when visiting the Louisville Headquarters. Mr. Wall <br /> estimated customers spend over 100 nights per year in Louisville hotels when they visit <br /> the Corporate Headquarters. <br /> MOTION: Councilor Dalton moved to approve Resolution No. 11, Series 2011, <br /> seconded by Mayor Pro Terri Marsella. Roll call vote was taken. The motion passed by <br /> a vote of 6 -0. Absent: Mayor Sisk. <br /> PRESENTATION CITY ENERGY REPORT <br /> Mayor Pro Tem Marsella requested a staff presentation. <br /> Facility Manager David Szabados reported on the energy consumption for the City's top <br /> ten energy using facilities and the motorized fleet. He presented graphs, which focused <br /> primarily on yearly totals. Highlights of the Energy Report are as follows: <br /> The cost of natural gas decreased 9% and the cost of electricity increased 10.8% <br /> for 2010. <br /> Overall energy costs increased 3.7% for 2010 vs. 2009. The increase was not <br /> even across the various facilities. <br /> Overall energy consumption was down 5.7% for 2010 vs. 2009 <br /> Overall electrical consumption was down 2.8% for 2010 vs. 2009 <br /> Overall gas consumption was down 10.2% for 2010 vs. 2009 <br /> The carbon foot print for our top 10 sites plus fleet fuel dropped 4.1% in 2010. <br /> Since 2007 our carbon foot print has dropped 11%. <br /> Facilities where energy efficiency measures were implemented showed further <br /> decreases in energy consumption. <br /> The Recreation Center roof and mechanical system replacement logged a full <br /> year of data and showed a 14.5% reduction in overall energy consumption year <br /> over year. <br /> Energy cost for the Sports Complex, which has the highest cost per kWh, was <br /> cut in half due to policy changes, lighting management software and the request <br /> for a different tariff schedule. <br /> Major Energy Projects Completed: <br />
