City Council <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> February 15, 2011 <br /> Page 5 of 6 <br /> At City Shops a majority of the lights in the work bays were converted to <br /> fluorescent T8 and programmable thermostats were installed on all radiant <br /> heaters. <br /> Although the Recreation Center Mechanical System replacement was completed <br /> in 2009, continuous monitoring and adjustment through the building automation <br /> system helped optimize both comfort and energy savings. <br /> Exterior building lights were converted to LED at the following facilities: the <br /> Recreation Center, City Hall, Museum, Police, Arts Center and Memory Square <br /> Pool. Most of these installations were at the end of the year. <br /> In 2010 the City spent over $652,000 dollars on Xcel Energy and $124,000 on fleet fuel. <br /> By tracking the City's energy consumption, there will be a better understanding of how <br /> energy is used, where to focus energy conservation efforts and finally to determine the <br /> effectiveness of any energy saving changes, which have been made. <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> Councilors thanked Facility Manager Szabados for his thorough presentation. <br /> Councilors inquired about the potential for wind power. Facility Manager Szabados <br /> explained he will continue to investigate wind power, however one of the negatives in <br /> wind power is there are no incentives and the pay back might be up to forty years. <br /> EXECUTIVE SESSION REAL PROPERTY ACQUISITION <br /> (Louisville Charter, Section 5 -2 (2) Authorized Topics Consideration of <br /> real property acquisition, only with respect to appraisals and other value <br /> estimates and strategyā€˛ and C.R.S. 24 -6- 402(4) (a) <br /> REGULAR BUSINESS ITEMS SUSPENDED <br /> City Attorney Light explained the request for an executive session is for the purpose of <br /> considering real property acquisitions potential purchase of land, but only with respect <br /> to appraisals and other value estimates and strategy. <br /> City Clerk Varra read the statement from Section 2.90.050 of the Louisville Municipal <br /> Code, which outlines the topics eligible for discussion during an executive session. <br /> City Attorney Light explained the executive session is for the purpose of considering <br /> real property acquisitions potential purchase of land. He cited the Statement of <br /> Authority for convening an executive session as follows: Louisville Charter, Section 5- <br /> 2(3) Authorized Topics Consideration of real property acquisitions and the Open <br /> Meeting Law, Section .R.S. 24 -6- 402(4) (a). <br /> MOTION: Mayor Pro Tem Marcella moved the City Council convene an executive <br />
