Library Board of Trustees <br />Minutes <br />January 13, 2011 <br />Page 5 of 6 <br /> <br />X.Director’s Report <br /> <br />A.Statistics <br /> <br />The 2009 and 2010 cumulative statistics were distributed. Beth noted that circulation <br />increased approximately 10% from 2009 to 2010 and has increased more than 31% since <br />2007. Beth also noted that Louisville is now a net lender in the Prospector system, with <br />almost 13,000 items loaned in 2010. Items borrowed and loaned through the Prospector <br />system are not included in overall circulation statistics but do represent a significant <br />impact on Circulation staff. The total of loaned and borrowed Prospector items is now <br />approximately 26,000 annually. <br />B.Budget <br /> <br />Beth noted that the Library budget for 2011 would remain flat, a good outcome given <br />the current economic climate and budgetary constraints. <br />C.Upcoming Events <br /> <br />Beth noted several of the upcoming events and new programs and initiatives at the <br />Library and Museum: <br /> <br /> <br />Nook Training, January 25 <br />Jeff Oliver, education specialist from Barnes and Noble in Boulder, will present <br />information on how to use a Nook eReader and how to download Library eBooks <br />to the Nook <br /> <br /> <br />Career Workshops <br />Reference Librarian, Karen Ingish, will present two workshops on how to use the <br />Resume Builder online database software to which the Library subscribes <br /> <br /> <br />Museum Brown Bag, February 1 <br />Museum Coordinator Bridget Bacon begins the first in a bimonthly series of <br />informal talks on Louisville history <br /> <br /> <br />Story Time in French, February 4 <br />This is a new story time and is being held once each month <br /> <br /> <br />Collaboration with Parks & Open Space <br />Beth and Denise Brooks (Children’s Services Supervisor) recently met with <br />Ember Brignull, the City’s Open Space Coordinator, to discuss how the two <br />organizations can collaborate on programming, particularly for older children <br /> <br /> <br />Teen Movie Night, January 14 <br />The Teen Librarian offers a movie night one Friday evening on a bimonthly basis <br /> <br /> <br />Snapshot Day, Feruary 14 <br />In conjunction with Valentine’s Day this year, there is a state effort to capture <br />snapshots of a typical day at the Library and find out why users love their <br />library; photos and stories will be shared by the State Library and associated <br />organizations with state legislators on Lobby Day, March 3; Library snapshots <br />and stories will be shared with patrons during National Library Week in April <br /> <br />City of Louisville <br /> :: <br />Public Library :: 951 Spruce StreetLouisville, CO 80027 <br />303-335-4815 :: 303-335-4833 (fax) :: www.louisville-library.gov <br /> <br />
