<br /> Sec. 17.24.030. Sign permits. <br /> No sign, except for signs listed in section 17.24.1190 shall be painted, <br /> constructed, erected, remodeled, relocated, expanded or have the copy of the sign <br /> changed or altered until a permit for such sign has been obtained. No permit shall <br /> be issued unless there is full compliance with the provisions of this chapter and <br /> other applicable provisions of this code. <br /> Sec. 17.24.040. General standards. <br /> A. Signs may be erected, altered and maintained only for, and be a permitted <br /> use in, the district in which the signs are located; shall be located on the same lot <br /> as the permitted uses; and shall be clearly incidental, customary and commonly <br /> associated with the operation of the permitted use. <br /> B. No sign shall be attached to a tree or utility pole whether on public or <br /> private property. <br /> C. No sign shall be maintained at any location where bv reason of its <br /> position. size. shape or color. it may obstruct. impair. obscure. interfere with the <br /> view of. or be confused with. any traffic control sign. signal or device. or mav it <br /> interfere with. mislead or confuse traffic. <br /> D. No sign shall be located in any vision clearance area. <br /> E. Signs shall be permitted only on the same lot or lots of the permitted <br /> advertised use. and onlv where clearly incidental. customary or commonlv <br /> associated with the operation of the permitted use. <br /> F. Anv request for an increase in the maximum allowable height. area. or <br /> number of signs must be specifically approved by the planning commission of the <br /> city through the same procedure set for approval of a minor PUD amendment. <br /> G. Prohibited siJ!n types. Freestanding. roof. off-premises and billboard signs <br /> shall not be an allowed sign type. <br /> Sec. 17.24.050. Measurement of gF9SS-surface area aBd height of sigB. <br /> A The entire area '.',ithiH a single eoB-tinuous perimeter eHelosiHg the <br /> .1...... extreme limits of such sigH ineludiHg that portion of the sigH strueture which is <br /> visible Em.d ',iewed in the same plane as the sign faee and '.vhieh either: <br /> 1. For eomputiHg the area of any '.'Itlll SigH '.',hieh eOHsists of letters mouB-ted or <br /> paiHted 01'1 a wall, the area shall be deemed to be the area of the smallest <br /> rectangular figrne '.'.'hieR OEm. encompass all of the letters. <br /> A. For all two-faced freestanding or projecting signs. the area measurement <br /> shall be determined by measurement of one face of the sign only. <br /> B. The total measured area of a sign shall include the area of all writing. <br /> representation. lines. emblems or figures contained within all modules. together <br /> with any air space. material or color forming an integral part or background of the <br /> displav if used to differentiate such sign from the backdrop or structure. <br /> 6 <br />
