The total measured area of a sign shall be calculated using the smallest <br /> single square or rectangle that encompasses all of the sign elements described in <br /> subsection B above. <br /> D. Where three-dimensional figures are used as signs, the area shall be the <br /> total area, as projected on a vertical plane, of each side of the figure which is <br /> visible beyond the boundaries of the lot upon which the figure is located. For <br /> purposes of this regulation, a figure shall be considered to have not less than one <br /> nor more than four sides, and the number of sides to be measured shall be <br /> determined by the intended location and visibility of the figure. <br /> E. Requirements for specific types of signs. <br /> A. Illuminated signs. Illuminated signs shall be shaded wherever necessary to <br /> avoid casting bright light upon property located in any residential district or area <br /> or upon any public street, park, public facility or hospital facility. <br /> 1. Illuminated signs in AO- T zone districts shall: comply with <br /> section 17.13.110 of this title; be illuminated only from a <br /> concealed light source internal to the sign structure or shielded <br /> from public view and from surrounding properties used to <br /> illuminate only the sign face and not any area beyond the face; <br /> and not remain illuminated between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and <br /> 6:00 a.m. <br /> 2. No illuminated sign visible from and located within three hundred feet <br /> of any prooerty in a residential zoning district may be illuminated <br /> between the hours of 11 :00 O.m. or one-half hour after the use to which <br /> 7 <br />
