BRaD <br />Meeting Summary <br />April 4, 2011 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br />RETENTION VISITS OVERVIEW: <br />Knudsen Gloss Architects – Jill Midgley and Malcolm Fleming <br />Architectural firm located on Spruce across from the Library, focuses mostly on high-end <br />residential projects; currently working with Boulder Creek Builders; has 9 employees; moved from <br />Boulder; wants to get involved with Chamber and DBA. <br />Old Friends – Rob Lathrop and Hank Dalton <br />Located on Front near Pine; has a mix of eclectic merchandise; enthusiastic and feeling positive <br />about their location. One concern is the near-misses at the intersection of Pine and Front and <br />concerned about pedestrians crossing at this intersection. <br />Market Force – Michael Menaker and John Benedetti <br />Provides secret shopper programs; located in Centennial Valley in the old Rock Bottom building; <br />leases their facility and has been there for 2 years; has 50 full-time employees; expressed desire <br />to be involved with the Centennial Valley Merchant Association. One issue they are having is with <br />signage, however, didn’t have any detail on this; also asked for a few of the City Maps from <br />Bonnie. <br />ECONOMIC BRIEFING – <br /> Sam’s – Wal Mart has entered into a contract with U-Haul. <br /> Safeway – has accepted a Letter of Intent from one party who has requested confidentiality. <br /> CAMT/NASA Prospect – staff submitted two proposals to Metro Denver <br /> CDOT Access at Highway 42 and South Boulder Road (the Arnold Property) – have <br />received conditional approval from CDOT.CDOT would approve a signal when there is a <br />sufficient traffic. <br /> King Soopers Gas – opening soon <br /> Vestas – Waiting on Vestas to make site selection on a second R&D facility. Decision to be <br />nd <br />made after 2 quarter <br /> ConocoPhillips (COP) – granted a one-year extension on their preliminary PUD. Due to <br />recent news that COP intended to sell a large number of capital assets, staff received <br />questions about the certainty of the Louisville project. Staff has been assured by COP that <br />the action has no affect on the Louisville project. <br /> Alley Cat building expanding to a second story <br /> LuLu’s, a new barbeque restaurant opening in back of the Cactus Wheel <br /> Bob’s – plans to open in April <br /> Bittersweet Coffee is moving from the Marketplace to the red house to the north <br /> JuJu Beads has moved to Front and Walnut, and there is a new thrift store in the same <br />building <br /> Birds of Prey Thrift Store has opened in the Louisville Plaza next to Big Lots <br /> King Soopers plans a façade renovation to the store on South Boulder Road <br /> Divine Canine moving from Hwy. 42 revitalization area to the former equipment rental facility <br />south of Steel Ranch <br /> The Scott Kornfield Classic bike criterium is May 21 <br /> Boulder County building on Main Street – BOCO still open to considering sale of their <br />unused building on Main Street <br />
