Louisville Revitalization Commission Five-Year Work Plan Hwy 42 Revitalization Area 1.Support the City’s implementation of the Parking and Pedestrian Action Plan A. Prioritize improvements for funding purposes. B. Leverage private investment wherever possible. C. Establish a method of regular communication with property owners regarding the implementation progress. 2.Support the City’s implementation Hwy. 42 Revitalization Plan’s Five Step Process: A.Step 1. Facilitate redevelopment of property at the corner of Hwy 42 and South Boulder Road (Step 1) i.Obtain CDOT approval for Cannon Circle access change. ii.Contact potential users; assist where appropriate. iii.Monitor and support PUD of redevelopment. iv.Be considerate and fair regarding existing users; facilitate communication so that existing businesses are retained, whenever possible. v.Obtain optimum number of street interconnections, including a connection to Front Street. B.Step 2. Connect Revitalization Area with Downtown - Build Underpass at South Street/Crossing of Hwy 42 i.Seek DRCOG Next Steps Grant to supplement funds to initiate design for these improvements. ii.Coordinate with RTD and its contractors to determine the size and scope of an underpass as well as any design work that has been done, etc. iii.Coordinate with CDOT for support of Hwy 42 street crossing design. iv.Ensure that plans are consistent with RTD and BNSF so that city receives reimbursement from RTD as part of FasTracks funding. v.After review of the 2009 RFP work, secure a Corridor Design Consultant Team through the most appropriate process. 1.Include design elements such as paving, lighting, building materials, landscaping, etc. 2.The City desires a safe and well-lit design built of quality materials. vi.Confirm that BNSF will allow a pedestrian underpass to connect the Hwy. 42 Revitalization Area with the Historic Downtown.
