Louisville Revitalization Commission <br />Five-Year Work Plan <br />Hwy 42 Revitalization Area <br />1.Support the City’s implementation of the Parking and Pedestrian <br />Action Plan <br />A. <br />Prioritize improvements for funding purposes. <br />B. <br />Leverage private investment wherever possible. <br />C. <br />Establish a method of regular communication with property owners <br />regarding the implementation progress. <br />2.Support the City’s implementation Hwy. 42 Revitalization Plan’s <br />Five Step Process: <br />A.Step 1. Facilitate redevelopment of property at the corner <br />of Hwy 42 and South Boulder Road (Step 1) <br />i.Obtain CDOT approval for Cannon Circle access change. <br />ii.Contact potential users; assist where appropriate. <br />iii.Monitor and support PUD of redevelopment. <br />iv.Be considerate and fair regarding existing users; facilitate <br />communication so that existing businesses are retained, whenever <br />possible. <br />v.Obtain optimum number of street interconnections, including a <br />connection to Front Street. <br />B.Step 2. Connect Revitalization Area with Downtown - Build <br />Underpass at South Street/Crossing of Hwy 42 <br />i.Seek DRCOG Next Steps Grant to supplement funds to initiate <br />design for these improvements. <br />ii.Coordinate with RTD and its contractors to determine the size and <br />scope of an underpass as well as any design work that has been <br />done, etc. <br />iii.Coordinate with CDOT for support of Hwy 42 street crossing <br />design. <br />iv.Ensure that plans are consistent with RTD and BNSF so that city <br />receives reimbursement from RTD as part of FasTracks funding. <br />v.After review of the 2009 RFP work, secure a Corridor Design <br />Consultant Team through the most appropriate process. <br />1.Include design elements such as paving, lighting, building <br />materials, landscaping, etc. <br />2.The City desires a safe and well-lit design built of quality <br />materials. <br />vi.Confirm that BNSF will allow a pedestrian underpass to connect <br />the Hwy. 42 Revitalization Area with the Historic Downtown. <br /> <br />
