City Council
Meeting Minutes
May 3, 2011
D. Resolution No. 25, Series 2011 A Resolution Approving a Special
Review Use (SRU) to all for the Operation of a Private School on
Property Controlled by the Alvenus Park Planned Unit Development
(PUD) at 1371 Hecla Drive
E. Award Bid for the 2011 Concrete Replacement Project
F. Approve Boulder County Collaborative Tamarisk and Russian Olive
Removal Project Memorandum of Agreement
PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA
Alan Sobel, 1408 Kennedy Avenue, Louisville, CO continued his filibuster and reviewed
the City Council's action in the last year. He stated the City refused to notify residents of
their rights under the Cable Customer Service Standards ordinance; the Mayor refused
to respond to his letter, which detailed Comcast Cable's non compliance with the
Louisville Municipal Code and the City allowed Comcast to notify subscribers or rate
changes by placing a small ad in the newspaper. He felt the City Council protects the
interests of large corporations such as Comcast Cable Television and not the rights of
its citizens. He cautioned Council not to rely solely on the information provided by City
staff and asked when Council would protect the rights of its citizens.
COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON THE
AGENDA
Councilor Muckle addressed Mr. Sobel's complaint about the City's response to his
requests. He stated the City has provided notification to the public by placing
information about cable television services on the front page of the City's Web site. He
stated the notice in the newspaper issue has been corrected.
Mayor Sisk stated the City staff has gone to great lengths to respond to Mr. Sobel. He
noted Mr. Sobel is one of 19,345 residents and is welcome to speak at any City
Council's meeting to express his opinions. He felt Mr. Sobel has brought up some good
points however no other residents have come forward with complaints against Comcast.
Mayor Sisk announced Louisville Municipal Judge Bruce Joss was elected to the
President of the Colorado Municipal Judge's Association. He congratulated Judge Joss
and thanked him for his service to the City.
Mayor Sisk reported the Triple P Project for RTD was passed by Congress. This project
will allow for the east and west sections of the northwest corridor. The RTD Board
voted against putting a tax question for FasTracks on the November ballot. The vote
was 13 -1. It is likely the measure will be put on the November 2012 ballot.
CITY MANAGER'S REPORT
