Cultural Council
Meeting Minutes
2/15/07

the City, which is pleading poverty despite a 95% increase in sales tax revenue
over the past ten years, and that cuts such as the Concert in the Parks was
probably an unwarranted attempt to inflict pain. He argued that LCC using its
SCFD funds to fill in behind the City cuts sends the wrong message. Jim Pollicita
offered the band he works with, "Sugar Daddy", for one concert. Wendy informed
the group that another blue grass band, "Southern Exposure" wanted to playa
concert, but would want to be paid $1000 to $1500 for the gig. Dates for concerts
were discussed with Julie Seydel. Lisa moved that we have three concerts in
June 2007 with "Sugar Daddy" being one of them. We will try and find $3K for the
other two concerts, and seek corporate funding. Motion approved with Don
Atwood abstaining. It was agreed that trying to sell refreshments at the concerts
has not been a huge success, as people tend to bring picnics.

Council Update - Don Brown not present.

City Staff Update - Kathy Martin asked if we want a table for the 4th of July even
in Community Park. LCC said, "Yes".
Kathy pointed out that we now had a banner!!!!

Events Update - Julie Seydel pointed out that CCCT will set up their stage/set in
the Arts Center on Saturday and that it will be up until March 4th. They will need a
similar set up in April. Wendy pointed out that we would just have to work around
it.

Public Relations Update - Julie Kovash asked that as events develop let her
know so she can publicize them. LCC now has 440 names/addresses on its
emaillist. Wendy gave Julie new dates for some of David Hosansky's events.

Proposed New Louisville Arts Center Wendy pointed out that extensive notes
she had taken at a meeting called by citizen's in Longmont developing a new
Arts Center in that city were in an attachment to the agenda. Don Atwood
commented that Longmont clearly has its act together, and is where we had
hoped to be before Mayor Sisk's request that we stop our efforts to get a
Steering Committee working on plans for a Louisville Arts Center. He also
pointed out that any new arts center in Longmont changed the landscape, but
would not preclude one in Louisville, where several users exist.

The LCC meeting with the Council was discussed and an LCC meeting to
organize our approach was set for Thursday March 8th at 7:00 PM in the
Recreation Center. Don Atwood was asked to organize the March 8th meeting.
Kathy martin pointed out that an agenda and any documents needed to be given
to her by March 1 st for public posting. The following people indicated they would
like to be at the march 8th meeting, as well as the meeting with the Council on
March 13th.
Wendy Phillips
