Cultural Council
Meeting Minutes
2/15/07

Julie Kovash
Jim Pollicita
David Hosansky
Maryan Jaross
Lisa Kihn
Kathy Martin
Don will also contact Sandra Lilja, and Kathy Pollicita as to their interest.

Sponsorships - Kathy Pollicita will meet with Wendy next week to organize
follow-ups.

Brainstorming - Don Atwood said that SVHS copies of tow of Fran Hall's films,
one on India and one on insects had been found and excellent DVD copies
made. The insect film especially appeals to kids. The Boulder Pubic Library will
show them, and they could be also shown in Louisville. It was suggested we
explore a showing of the insect film at the Steinbaugh Pavilion this summer. Don
agreed to follow-up on that idea, but pointed out that David Hosansky should be
involved.

New Business - David Hosansky is working on an adult poetry-writing workshop
with Marj Hahne. They would need at least five, and a maximum of 15
participants and would charge about $20 each. It was moved that LCC allocate
$250 to pay Marj Hahne for the workshop, and all proceeds collected from
participants would go to LCC. Motion passed unanimously.
Wendy said the Paul Jones concert was "awesome" with about 60 in the
audience. The net LCC expense was about $448. Paul Jones has offered to play
a benefit to raise money for a new piano. It was suggested that we hold a catered
dinner at the Recreation Center with Paul Jones playing as a fundraiser. No
action.
Upcoming is a concert by an a cappella group that will sell out.
Lisa Kihn pointed out that the Young Writers program will be held on April 21 st.

Next meeting on 3/15/2007 with deadline for agenda items, etc, being in Kathy
Martin's hands by 3/7/07.

Meeting adjourned at 9: 10 PM
