LSAB Action Plan -Solar PV Kiosk <br />09 MAY 2011 <br />Goal: <br />Provide a means to display the solar photovoltaic production from the large scale arrays installed on City of <br />Louisville property at the two water treatment and the waste treatment facilities, including simple <br />quantification of environmental benefits of solar energy in comparison to other fossil fuel energy. Also, <br />provide general education of sustainable practices and issues like (but not limited to) solar energy. <br />Benefit: <br />Develop a connection between an important City project and Louisville residents. Provide an important <br />educational hub for sustainable practices and a real-time readout of how the City is taking measures to <br />reduce its carbon footprint. Develop relationship with local community group addressing sustainability <br />issues -Transition Louisville. <br />Process: <br />Kiosk Features <br />1. <br />Real-time readout of solar PV production at installed City of Louisville PV arrays. <br />2. <br />Describe the environmental benefits (savings $) of solar PV arrays and other City projects. <br />3. <br />Describe other City projects that address energy conservation or sustainable issues and their <br />environmental benefits (savings $). <br />4. <br />Kiosk should have slots to display 3-fold flyers on relevant programs. <br />5. <br />Kiosk software/programming could have a simple survey on sustainable practices, an email button to <br />send Top 10 sustainable tips to someone’s personal email, and a button to provide an email address for <br />receiving information from LSAB. <br />6. <br />The kiosk should be a living, growing project. <br />7. <br />Display LSAB sustainable topics of interest; could compliment LSAB website content. This <br />information would be additive over a long period of time (i.e. add new update every three or four <br />months). Ideas for topics include: <br />• <br />City of Louisville rebate information <br />• <br />Boulder County EnergySmart information <br />• <br />State of Colorado, Governor’s Energy Office <br />• <br />Xcel rebate information <br />• <br />Department of Energy, Federal tax credit information <br />• <br />Public Transportation <br />• <br />Pedestrian-friendly / Bicycle-friendly lifestyle <br />• <br />Food -Urban Agriculture (Community Gardens -Growing Gardens), Farmer's Market, Local Food <br />• <br />Renewable Energy <br />• <br />Energy Conservation <br />• <br />Zero Waste (Western's service to the City, Composting tips) <br />• <br />Home Energy Efficiency <br />• <br />Remodel and New Construction best green building practices <br /> <br />
