Sustainability AdvisoryBoard
April-2011 Meeting Minutes
Page 3of3
XI: Urban Agriculture –Planning Department White Paper:
Troy Russ explained
that the Planning Department is soliciting a white paper to help guide the Planning Dept
and City of Louisville in policies and practices around Urban Agriculture. He suggested
the paper should cover 1) what isUrban Agriculture, 2) what are Best Practices, and 3)
how do these practices relate to the City of Louisville. He is not asking for a ‘position’
per se but rather Best Practices and how they might be implemented in Louisville.
Annie volunteered to lead the effort and Mary Ann also volunteered to assist. Andy also
volunteered to research how best practices might relate to existing codes.
XII: Policy/Procedure for items not on the agenda (discussion):
There was
discussion among the members about how the LSAB agenda is dominated by guest
speakers and in some cases by ‘drop-in’ public comments. Members generally agreed
that we need to limit such participation in order to ensure adequate time in meetings to
address the ongoing topics and goals of the LSAB. Members agreed to limit “Public
Comments for Items Not on the Agenda” to 3 minutes per speaker(there was
discussion about limiting number of speakers but this was dropped in the interest of
open government and with the general agreement that more than 5 speakers would be
unlikely). Members also agreed to limit the guest speakers to no more than one per
meeting, and that the May meeting would not have a guest speaker. Tom suggested
that the guest speaker schedule be added to the monthly agenda.
Adjourn:
The meeting was adjourned at 8pm.
2011 Schedule, Deadlines, and Assignments bold
(next meeting in )
PLEASE NOTE DUE DATES TO KERRY
Circulate Draft Agenda and Minutes MeetingChairSecretarySpeakers
Agendato Kerry Holle
Not
May 5May 10May 18TedCullen
Available
June 2June 7June 15CullenMary Ann
July 7July 12July 20Mary AnnAndy
August 4August 9August 17AndyArno
September 8September 13September 21ArnoMark
October 6October 11October 19MarkTed
November 3November 8November 16TedCullen
December 8December 13December 21CullenMary Ann
