Temporary or seasonal employees in order <br /> of service time. <br /> The City Adminis,t:rator is open to discussion when an appoint- <br /> ment is made to discuss wi1:h other eligible employees who have indi- <br /> cated an interest in being promoted to the position, why another <br /> employee received the promotion. <br /> 7 F. SAFETY: Hmvever, each employee should be certain he <br /> knows what to do in case of fire or other disaster, and the location <br /> and use of first aid supplies. The Department Heads will hold periodic <br /> safety meeting and programs for all employees and maintain minutes <br /> of the meetings. <br /> 7 L. MEDICAL E~~INATIONS: The City, at its discretion, <br /> may require employees and perspective employees to take physical <br /> examinations, and psycholo<jical examinations. <br /> CHAPTER VIII <br /> 8 C-l. ORDER OF :LAYOFF: In determining the order of <br /> layoffs the decision of the City is final. The following factors <br /> generally will be taken into consideration in the following order <br /> in determining layoffs: -- --- ----- <br /> a. Needs of service. <br /> b. Nature-of work to be curtailed. <br /> c. Efficiency of the employee as demonstrated <br /> on the job. <br /> d. Length of service. <br /> e. In addition to the above factors, the advis- <br /> ability of demoting employees in higher classes <br /> to lower classes for which they are qualified <br /> and laying off those in lower classes may also <br /> be considered. <br /> f. No regular, full time employee shall be laid <br /> off from any position while a temporary employee <br /> is still employed in the same division. <br /> 8 C-2. NOTICE OF LAYOFF: Employees who are to be laid off <br /> will be given a ten calend~r day notice from the City. <br /> 8 D. RE-EMPLOYME:NT: Regular, full time employees thus <br /> laid off shall be placed on a re-employment list for a period of <br /> one year, and shall be ret~urned to work in the reverse order of their <br /> layoff, provided that the employee is qualified and has the necessary <br /> skill for the position to be filled. An employee who has been laid <br /> off should keep the finance or Personnel Director notified of his <br /> address and failure to do so-Will constitute a forfeiture by the <br /> employee of any re-employnlent consideration that he might otherwise <br /> be given. <br /> 8 E. DISMISSAL: A Department Head or the City Administrator, <br /> may dismiss a permanent employee who is unsatisfactory for further <br /> City employment for the reasons set forth in Chapter ~. <br /> -10- <br />
