. - ORDINANCE ~O. 629 - AN ORDINANCE DISSOLVING THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION; ESTABLISHING A DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION; AND ADOPTING REGULATIONS FOR THE CONTROL AND USE OF PARKS AND THE COMMUNITY BUILDING. WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the present voluntary Parks and Recreation Commission should. be replaced with a full time staff person to administer the City's Parks and Recreation programs; and WHEREAS, it has been recommended by the City Staff that the City should have specific regulations for the control and use of the Parks and Park facilities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY 'THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: Section 1. Chapter 2.56, Title 2, of the Louisville Municipal Code is hereby repealed. Section 2. That the following Chapter and sections thereof are hereby added to Title 2 of the Louisville Municipal Code: Chapter 2.56 Department of Parks and Recreation 2.5,6.010 Established. There is created and established a Department of Parks and Recreation for the purpose of administering the development and care of the City's parks, recreation pro~rams, open space, trails system, and the Louisville Cemetery. 2.56.0'20 Appointment of Director. The Director of Parks and Recreation shall be appointed by and responsible to the City Administrator, and his appointment shall continue during satisfactory service, and at the pleasure of the City Administrator. 2.56.030 Director of Parks and Recreation-Designated Duties The Director of Parks and Recreation shall be designated as a Department Head and his responsibilities and duties shall include but not be limited to: (a) Prepare and submit an annual budget and yearly update of the department's five year capital improvement program. (b) Prepare, and continually update, for review and approval a Parks and Open Space Comprehensive Plan for the City of Louisville.
