<br /> . - <br /> OnDINANCE NO. 630 <br /> AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING <br /> MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR INSULATING <br /> RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURES WITHIN THE <br /> CITY OF LOUISVILLE. <br /> WHEREAS, due to increasing energy Drices and demands <br />there is need for efficient insulation of residential structures; <br />and, <br /> WHEREAS, the State Legislature has adopted state wide <br />standards for Residential Buildin~ Energy Conservation; and <br /> WHEREAS, local governments are urged and directed to <br />adopt such standards as a part of their local codes; <br /> NOW, THEREFOFlE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THF CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br /> Section 1. That Title 15 be amended to add Chapter <br />15.36, to be known as Residential Building Energy Conservation <br />Standards, to the Louisville Municipal Code of the City of <br />Louisville, as follows: <br />15 . ~i6 Residential Building Energy Conservation Standards. <br /> 15.2',6.010 Definitions. <br /> The following words and phrases, whenever used in this <br />section, shall be construed as defined herein unless from the con- <br />text, a different meaning is specifically defined and more particu- <br />larly directed to the use of such words or phrases: <br /> A. ASHHAE - American Society of Heating, <br /> Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. <br /> B. Exterior walls- the vertical or within <br /> 300 of vertical elements of a building which <br /> enclose spaces through which eneTgy may be <br /> transferred to or from the exterior. <br /> C. Heated space - a space within a building <br /> which is provided with a positive heat supply to <br /> maintain air temperature of 500F or higher. <br /> D. Renovation- any structural alteration, <br /> or repair to a residential building which results <br /> in, or is likely to result ln, a fifty per cent <br /> or greater increase in the value of the building. <br /> E. Residential structure - any building <br /> which by design includes heated space and is intend- <br /> ed for human use as a living or multi-family <br /> dwellings not to exceed three stories above grade, <br /> but excluding private garages. <br /> F. R-value - the reciprocal of the average <br /> overall coefficient of heat transmission in BTU's <br /> (British thermal units) per hour. The measure of <br /> resistance of a material or building component <br /> to the passage of heat as set by ASHRAE. <br />
