<br /> . - <br /> 15.36.011 Insulation standards. <br /> The following minimum standards for residential buildings <br />on which construction or renovation commences on or after <br />March I, 1978, shall be as follows: <br /> A. Insulation havinf!, a minimum H--value <br /> of eleven shall be used in all exterior walls <br /> contiguous to unheated areas above grade. <br /> B. Insulation having a minimum R-value <br /> of nineteen shall be used in all exterior <br /> ceilings of heated areas above grade. <br /> C. All windows and sky lights above <br /> grade shall be double-glazed. <br /> D. All exterior doors or doors leading <br /> to unheated areas above grade shall be <br /> weather-stripped and sliding glass doors <br /> shall be doutle-glaze. <br /> E. Exterior walls of masonry or <br /> concrete construction shall be insulated to <br /> Hll or equivalent in thermal resistance. <br /> 15.36.012 Energy conserving alternativ~. <br /> Computations submitted by a licensed architect or <br />engineer that the total energy required in a residential bllilding, <br />through design or otherwise, ~quals or is less than the total <br />energy used if the dwelling is built or renovated according to <br />standards contained in subsection 15.36.011 of this chapter shall <br />be considered an acceptable alternative for conformance with the <br />prescriptive standards set forth in subsection 15.36.011 of this <br />section. The total energy required shall be computed as the annual <br />estimated BTU's necessary to heat, cool, and light the proposed <br />residential building. For purposes of this calculation, the <br />exterior walls shall consist of no more than the equivalent of <br />twenty per cent doors and windows. <br /> 15.36.0l3 Permit requirements. <br /> All applications for building permits required by the <br />provisions of the Louisville Municipal Code shall be accomplished <br />by statements of the type of insulation material to be used and <br />it's certified R factor for each building use. <br /> 15.36.014 Inspection. <br /> All inspections required by the provisions of the <br />Louisville Municipal Code shall be made and construction approved <br />prior to installing insulation. All insulation required by <br />Section l5.36.011 shall be inspected and approved prior to <br />covering with other permanent construction. <br /> 15.36.015 Certification. <br /> All insulation to be used in the construction of a <br />residential building in conformance with this chapter shall be <br />accomplished by statements of the type of insulation material to <br />be used and it's certified R factor for each huildinf use. <br /> Section 2. The City Council finds that this Ordinance <br />is necessary to the immediate preservation of the public health <br />or safety for the immediate upgrading and control of insulation <br />of residential buildings. <br /> -.:3... <br />
