Revitalization Commission
Agenda
March 21, 2011
over time and more people will be living on the east over time.
The connection over/under the railroad will be critical to bring
those residents into Main Street. The infrastructure investment in
the areas will bring the development sooner. We are competitive
regionally because of our downtown for more residential.
QUESTION from Karl: Does Louisville have the demand for more
o
residential in the LRC? The pending PUD process on the old
Safeway site is an indicator that residential is viable in Louisville in
the current market.
QUESTION from Bob: When we study connectivity how important
o
is slowing traffic on 42? The corridor should be notable and have
sense of place. Sidewalk walks on both are required and make
sure that 42 is a true entrance of downtown.
Questions from Bob: What are the next steps the LRC should
o
take? Public improvements will be the critical next/first step.
Allowing more uses to occur and less requirements. There needs
to be some control, but don’t try to anticipate all market conditions.
Retail cannot be forced to occur. Retail will occur where it will
survive, not where it is forced.
2.
