Sisk moved that Council set Ordinance No. 1312, Series 1999 - An Ordinance <br />Concerning Increased Penalties for Moving Traffic Violations in School Zones out for <br />publication and set the public hearing for November 3, 1999, seconded by Sisk. <br /> <br />Levihn asked for clarification that State Laws currently allow for increased penalties for <br />speeding in school zones. <br /> <br />Light replied, yes. He explained that implementing this through the City's Municipal <br />Court procedure requires the adoption of the counterpart section of the City' s Traffic <br />Code. <br /> <br />All in favor. <br /> <br /> APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br /> <br />Davidson explained that there is currently a vacancy on the Board of Adjustment for a <br />term ending January 2001, and appointed Paul Fletcher, of Louisville, to the Board. <br /> <br />OTHER REGULAR BUSINESS ITEMS ARISING AFTER PREPARATION OF <br /> AGENDA <br /> <br />NONE <br /> <br />CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT <br /> <br />Sam Light, City Attorney, provided an update on the Paradise Lane litigation. He <br />explained that motions to dismiss were filed several weeks ago. The Plaintiffs have <br />requested that the Court give them until October 29, 1999 to respond to the motions to <br />dismiss. He stated that he expects the Court would allow that to happen and anticipates <br />receiving a response to the motions to dismiss by the end of the month. <br /> <br />CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT <br /> <br />Simmons reminded Council that the Legal Committee would be meeting on Wednesday, <br />October 20, at 4:30 p.m., and confirmed the agenda for the upcoming work session. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />Keany reported that he attended a Chamber of Commerce breakfast where the purpose of <br />the meeting was to inform the business community what the cities of Louisville and <br />Lafayette have done regarding Y2K preparations. He displayed a pamphlet entitled <br />Family Emergency Preparedness that was prepared by the Louisville Police Department <br /> <br />10 <br /> <br /> <br />
