LIBRARY MUSEUM NEWS
JULY
2011
What if everybody in your community read the same book
at the same time?
To help answer this question, the
mayors of Louisville, Superior, and
Lafayette announced National Book
Award winner, The Worst Hard Time
by Timothy Egan, as the book
selection for the first 'On The Same
Page' one -book program co- sponsored
by the three communities. The series
of programs, exhibits, book discussions, and author events that
are scheduled provide many opportunities for community
members to join together to discuss and celebrate the rich
history and common bonds that connect them.
On The Same Page
On The Same Page
Programming begins in early September and will run through
mid October. To provide a visual backdrop of the time period
in which the book is set —the 1930s —both libraries are now
hosting photo exhibits. Grit: Coloradans and the Dust Bowl is on
display at the Louisville Public Library, and the Lafayette
Public Library is hosting Dust Bowl Descent, a photo exhibit by
photographer and author Bill Ganzel.
Program schedules are available at both libraries and at the
town hall in Superior. Program and event information is also
available on the Louisville Library website and is accessible
from the Lafayette Library and Town of Superior websites.
This community celebration is being funded by Colorado
Humanities, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the
Louisville Public Library Foundation, the Town of Superior,
and the Friends of the Lafayette Library Foundation. 'On the
Same Page' program support provided by local business
sponsors Indiegraphic and D.A.M. Cool Graphics, as well as
Georgetown Frame Shoppe, Washington, D.C.
Any views, findings, conclusions, or recommendations expressed in this
publication do not necessarily represent those of the National Endowment
for the Humanities or Colorado Humanities.
Summer Reading for All Ages
June 1 -July 31
Summer Reading Programs are underway, but you can still
register if you want to join the fun.
