<br />a sum equivalent to that percentage of the average annual rental <br />which was paid during such preceding year which is attributable to <br />the city's ad valorem tax on that dwelling unit. This amount shall <br />be determined by multiplying the total annual rent paid by the <br />applicant by the average percentage of the annual rental paid <br />toward total property tax, and then multiplying such percentage by <br />the city's current share of the total property tax mill levy. The <br />percentage of average annual rent paid towards total property tax <br />shall be determined by the city administrator manager or <br />manager's designee on the basis of the most recent statistics <br />available to the city him which indicate total property tax revenues <br />or assessments on realty within the city. <br /> <br />JG. If, during the calendar year preceding the year in which the <br />application is submitted, the applicant owned and lived in two or <br />more homes, or rented and lived in two or more dwelling units, or <br />owned and lived in a home for a portion of such preceding year <br />and rented and lived in a dwelling unit for the remaining portion of <br />the year, the city shall pay to him a pro rata sum in accordance <br />with subsections A and B of this section, based on the number of <br />months he lived in each home or dwelling unit. <br /> <br />B. Effective for tax year 2003 and thereafter, no taxes assessed <br />pursuant to a city debt service mill levy shall be eligible for any rebate, allowance <br />or benefit under this chapter. <br /> <br />C-I* In addition to the tax benefits described in this section, an applicant <br />who is 65 years of age or older, may receive additional tax benefits set forth in the <br />following table: <br /> <br />Total Household Income Rebate <br />o to $6, 000.00..................................................... $48.00 <br />$6,001.00 to $12,000.00.. .. .... .. .... ......... .. .... .. . ......... . 30.00 <br /> <br />In order to receive such additional benefit, known as the water use <br />rebate, the applicant must meet all qualifications as set forth in <br />section 3.12.050. Such refund shall be payable after August 1 for <br />the previous calendar year in combination with the property tax <br />rebate described herein. <br /> <br />Section 3. If any portion of this ordinance is held to be invalid for any reason, such <br />decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance. The City Council <br />hereby declares that it would have passed this ordinance and each part hereof irrespective of the fact <br />that anyone part be declared invalid. <br /> <br />2 <br />
