The general agreement was there is time by using the following dates: July 18
nd
to HPC and August 2to City Council.
th
Butterworth stated she would not be able to attend the July 18meeting. She offered to have
her contractor represent her if it is okay with HPC.
Poppitz moved and Fasick seconded a motion to continue the approval of the Grant Request
th
for 501 South Street to the July 18meeting to allow the applicant and HPC representative to
meet to redesign the porch. Motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
PUBLIC HEARINGGrant request –816 McKinley Avenue
–
Russ provided the Landmarking background of the property. The review of the request
included the following:
Exterior painting.
Three (3) bids were received and briefly reviewed by Russ.
Staff recommends approval of the grant request in the amount of $4,920 which includes a 20%
contingency amount.
Stewart noted the applicant is not present.
Poppitz stated his support of the request.
Fasick stated her support of the request.
Koertje stated he was pleased to see the three (3) bids and he also supports the request.
Stewart stated painting a property is certainly appropriate. He would like to see the HPC
research if there were specific historic colors used during different periods in history.
Koertjestated the painting maintenance of a historic home is not an alteration, even with a
change of color.
Poppitz stated the HPC should not become the paint color jury for Historic Properties.
