I very
much hope that Commission members will be able to attend andshow support for thisnew
book.
The Summer 2011 issue of The Louisville Historianwill have the theme of Louisville duringthe
Depression, to tie in with the book The Worst Hard Timebeing read by our community for the
On The Same Page book reading program. An exhibit on the same topic will be placed in the
Library lobby starting right after Labor Day.
th
On June 20, I attended the Volunteer Group meeting of the Association of Northern Front
Range Museums with volunteers Mary Kay Knorr, Debby Fahey, and Gail Khasawneh. It was
held at the Golden History Museums and included a tour of their museum buildings.
I am working on an emergency plan for the Museum in connection with my attendance at two
workshopsheld in Fort Collins by the Western States and Territories Preservation Assistance
Service (WESTPAS). Theresult of the “Protecting Cultural Collections” workshops willbe a
written disaster plan as well as the creation of a list of action priorities for the Museum’s
collection, and hands-onexperience in salvaging a variety of materials. The first workshop was
held in June, and I will attend the second onelaterin July.
I also attended a very helpful workshop on “The Identification and Preservation of Photography
Collections” sponsored by the Colorado/Wyoming Association of Museums.
In the last month at the Museum, I provided assistance to a number of people who are looking
for information aboutthe histories of their Louisville properties as well asworking onlong
distance family history researchrelating to Louisville.I also provided informationin response to
a public inquiryabout the history of the Centennial Valley area that is now part of Louisville, but
historically was in the unincorporated county and was sparsely populated.
Museum Visitors Report(these statistics represent visits to the Museum itself, andnot inquiries
June visitors: 132; YTD visitors: 495.
that come in by email or phone):
