City Council
Meeting Minutes
June 7, 2011
APPROVE AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL GEOTECHNICAL SERVICES FOR
STREET RESURFACING AND CONCRETE REPLACEMENT PROJECTS
Mayor Sisk requested a Staff presentation.
Public Works Director Phare explained the Public Works Department is requesting
authorization to enter into a contract with A.G. Wassenaar, Inc., for Geotechnical
Services for the Street Resurfacing and Concrete Replacement Projects. Some of the
geotechnical services to be provided by A.G. Wassenaar, Inc., include soil proctor,
compaction of subgrade soils, concrete compression strength and various asphalt tests.
Wasenaar's hourly rates and laboratory testing costs are reasonable and competitive
with other firms contacted. It is difficult to estimate the costs of Geotechnical Services
because the services are provided as needed and are dependent on the contractor's
progression of work and site conditions. There is also a cost per test. The City may
have some cost savings in material testing because of efficiency providing services for
multiple projects. A.G. Wassenaar, Inc. is providing materials testing for the North End
Subdivision.
COUNCIL COMMENTS
Council questioned whether the Highway 42 Project had testing at the request of CDOT.
Public Works Director Phare stated there were tests conducted on the asphalt material
for the Highway 42 Project.
MOTION: Councilor Muckle moved to approve the Professional Agreement with A.G.
Wassenaar, Inc., for Geotechnical Services for Street Resurfacing and Concrete
Replacement Project, seconded by Councilor Clabots. Roll call vote was taken and the
motion carried by a vote of 7 -0.
AMEND LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE TO SET FORTH THAT CERTAIN FEES,
RATES AND CHARGES WILL BE ESTABLISHED BY RESOLUTION OF THE CITY
COUNCIL
Mayor Sisk opened the public hearing and requested the presentation include both
Ordinance No. 1594, Series 2011 and Resolution No. 29, Series.
ORDINANCE No. 1594, SERIES 2011 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE
LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE TO SET FORTH THAT CERTAIN FEES, RATES
AND CHARGES WILL BE ESTABLISHED BY RESOLUTION OF THE CITY
COUNCIL 2nd Reading Public Hearing
Mayor Sisk requested a City Attorney introduction.
City Attorney Light read Ordinance No. 1594, Series 2011.
