Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
May 16, 2011

Poppitz stated there appeared to be a concern about the HPC reviewing PUD site
plans.
Stewart recommended the HPC make a detailed presentation at the joint study session.
Speier added there should be a power point with bullet points to keep focus on the
items.
Stewart recommended the HPC place the study session as a discussion item on the
June 20, 2011 agenda.
Update – Plaques
Stewart asked the HPC if they thought we should commission a logo that can be placed
on top of the plaques.
Speier answered in the affirmative.
Tofte stated Louisville has a huge art community and asked if the commission thought a
contest would be a good idea.
Fasick stated she was thinking the same thing.
Poppitz stated he thought it was a good idea.
The commission asked staff to check whether a contest could be created.
Stewart recommended the commission should check into the logos that are currently on
file at the museum and then go from there.
Update/Discussion/Action – 1131 Jefferson
McCartney presented the memo and the attached request for proposal from JVA for
structural drawings for 1131 Jefferson.
Speier stated the proposed amount of $2,800 was high. He recommended a matching
fund should be added by the applicant if the commission accepted the bid.
Stewart stated he didn’t agree there should be a matching requirement. He stated
architectural and engineering fees should be paid 100% by the HPF. Bricks and mortar
should require a match.
Speier and Stewart stated they would provide to staff some additional names of
engineers.
Update/Discussion/Action – Grain Elevator HSA
McCartney presented the attached memo and gave an update of the HSA, which
included a detailed breakdown of costs for the preservation of the Grain Elevator in
phases.
Speier and Stewart stated they would like a copy of the final HSA.
