CITY MANAGER

Louisville, Colorado
City Manager Application
Supplemental Essay Questions

In order to get a better sense of your writing skills and additional insights into your
management style, please answer the following questions. Limit your responses to no
more than a single page per question and please return your answers to Protlunan by
April 22, 2007 (first review, open until filled).

1. Please tell us why you are interested in this position and why it is a good time in
your career to come to the City of Louisville.

I am interested in the position of Louisville City Manager because Louisville is a top
quality city in America with progressive leaders who thrive for a modern
community with a high quality of life. Louisville desires a manager who has the
skills and values that will compliment the vision of its elected officials and
professional aspirations of its staff. Louisville is responding to growth challenges,
budget pressures and goals for economic development and downtown vitalization.
The city of Louisville expects its next manager to operate with integrity,
accountability, and to foster am environment of teamwork, innovation and
collaboration. I am highly inte:rested in this city and this position because of the
strong fit that exists between the city's goals for a manager and the attributes I
possess. My work record attests to the alignment of my specific skills and
experience with the organizational values the city of Louisville desires. My
experience as a world record setting facilitator of collaborative planning is but one
example of my team building management philosophy. I have a passion for
collaborative teamwork, leadership and management and am interested to dedicate
myself to a city that desires th(~se same qualities.

It is a great time in my career to come to the city of Louisville because my
professional interests are now aligned with my family goals. With two college aged
students, working for Louisville will enable my children to attend CD Boulder. My
oldest child sustained a traumatic brain injury which necessitated my departure
from the city of Greeley. My son is fully recovered now and I desire to return to city
management. After working thirty-one years in county government, I strive to
work for a highly professional, modern and progressive city such as Louisville.
With the goals of my family and the goals of my career in alignment, it makes it a
great time to come to the city of Louisville.
