Board member absent:
Kimberly Heestand. Staff members present: Chris Lichty, Joe Stevens, Kathy Kron
(guest), Meredyth Muth (guest). City Council member present: Dave Clabots.
Approval of Agenda—The agenda was approved by all members.
III.
Approval of Minutes—The minutes from the June 2, 2011 meeting were approved.
IV.
Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda—No public present.
V.
Arboretum Pergola—Kathy Kron reviewed the design, which includes increased
VI.
patio space, and seating similar to the existing plan. The concrete footers of the
pergola would be covered with a stone veneer and cap. This year’s budget of $15,000
will allow only completion of the hardscape. Next year, Kathy would like to see the
design completed with grading, sod (Texas bluegrass is recommended), and trees (as
selected by Chris) for the area surrounding the pergola. Kathy will post the design on
the city website for public notification, and would appreciate contractor
recommendations from HFAB in order to solicit quotes for work to be done this fall.
Historical Museum—Kathy reported that the plant replacement project has been
VII.
completed, with help from a teen volunteer group. HFAB agreed to donate $100 from
the Friends of the Arboretum account to help pay for the plants.
HFAB Bylaws—Meredyth reviewed the proposed changes, and answered
VIII.
questions regarding the duties of the board (as required by the Tree City USA
ordinance); and the term length for board members (two years for all members, with
staggered renewal dates.) The bylaws must be approved by City Council. Mike
motioned to approve the amended bylaws; motion was unanimously approved.
City of Louisville
Parks & Recreation Department
749 Main Street Louisville CO 80027
303.335.4735 (phone) 303.335.4738 (fax) www.louisvilleco.gov
