Trustee Informational Comments on Pertinent Items Not on the Agenda <br /> <br />1 ) Lisa suggested planning a celebration for the upcoming one-year anniversary <br />(August 19) of the new Library building. All agreed that this is a good idea, but <br />given limited time and resources it is unclear what the Board will be able to <br />do. <br /> <br />2) Eileen informed the Board that before the regular meeting on July 19, she will <br />host a dinner at her home for Jerry Maddock, who retired from the Board <br />earlier this year. <br /> <br />7. Ongoing Business <br /> <br />A. Long-range Plan (LRP) <br /> <br />The Board reviewed the proposed LRP schedule and the 17 proposed PLA Service <br />Responses. After some discussion, the Board agreed with selections of Library staff <br />and also chose the following Service Responses as the focus of the 2008 LRP: <br /> <br />#9 Know how to Find, Evaluate, and Use Information: Information <br />Fluency <br /> <br />#13 Satisfy Curiosity: Lifelong Learning <br /> <br />#14 Stimulate Imagination: Reading, Viewing, and Listening for <br />Pleasure <br /> <br />Individuals and teams (comprising one Board member and one Library staff <br />member) were selected to prepare various sections of the LRP, as follows: <br /> <br /> <br />1. Acknowledgements <br />2. Executive Summary <br />3. Overview of Planning Process <br />4. Library History, Development, Current Status <br />5. Community Profile / Survey <br />6. Library Assessment (SWOT analysis) <br />7. Vision Statement <br />8. Mission Statement <br />9. Service responses: <br />#9 Information Fluency <br />#13 Lifelong Learning <br />#14 Stimulate Imagination <br />10.
