<br />City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />January 2, 2007 <br />Page 8 of 10 <br /> <br />Council member Muckle requested adding a statement addressing urban <br />renewal authorities. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Brown supported limiting urban renewal on Greenfield <br />properties, but cautioned against a generic limitation of urban renewal projects. <br /> <br />Council member Muckle addressed local control and stated the City should not <br />necessarily oppose all state Ilegislation presented. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk stated the City must know what the consequences are to Louisville <br />and weigh the financial impacts Federal and State legislation has on the City. <br /> <br />Council member Sackett did not agree with the manner sales tax is handled on <br />the state level. <br /> <br />Council member Muckle addressed tax policy, and suggested weighing the <br />financial impacts such legislation would have on the City. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Brown commented it is unlikely the state will address the issue of <br />sales tax sharing in this legislative session. <br /> <br />Interim City Manager Balser noted when Louisville was a statutory city it had <br />difficulty in collecting sales tax from the state. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk noted there is a state-wide gas tax collected and 85% is collected in <br />the Metro area, however only 50% is funded back to the Metro area. <br /> <br />MOTION: Mayor Pro Tem Brown moved to approve 2007 Legislation Agenda <br />with authorization for the, Staff to amend the agenda with the recommended, <br />changes, seconded by Council member Muckle. All in favor. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk reported the Boulder Valley School District Board of Education is <br />asking for applicants to serve on the Bond Oversight Committee. He encouraged <br />members of the public to participate in the process. Applications are due by the <br />end of business day, January 8, 2007. <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION - "CONSULTATION WITH ATTORNEYS <br />REPRESENTING THE CITY WITH RESPECT TO PENDING LITIGATION. <br />PENDING LITIGATION SHALL INCLUDE CASES WHEREIN A LAWSUIT IS <br />ACTUALLY COMMENCEID AND ANY SITUATION WHERE THE PERSON <br />REQUESTING THE EXECUTIVE SESSION BELIEVES IN GOOD FAITH THAT <br />A LAWSUIT MAY RESULT, THE COUNCIL MAY DISCUSS SETTLEMENT <br />STRATEGII:S IN AN EXECUTIVE SESSION." <br />
