<br />Historical Commission <br />Minutes <br />June 6, 2007 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br /> <br />2. Alice Koerner, Donna Hauswald, Bridget Bacon, and Meredyth Muth are <br />reviewing a punch list of items needing maintenance. Meredyth Muth will <br />check with the City to determine what jobs will need to be contracted out. <br />3. Home Depot employees would like to volunteer for a community project. <br />They have a limited budget, but potentially a large volunteer pool. <br />4. Painting estimates for the Jacoe Store/Museum and the Tomeo House - <br />First bid is $9,200, including prep, caulking, primer and two coats of paint. <br />Two bids are pending. The signage painting is estimated at $4,000. <br />5. City staff has determined it will cost $218 to replace those plants that did <br />not make it through the winter. The Commission approved the funds. <br />Bedding plants for the back beds have been ordered and should be <br />installed in June. <br />6. Future discussion - Improving the access to the front of the Jacoe <br />Store/Museum. It was suggested that a second railing at the front <br />entrance would help access. <br />B. Community Education - Kids' Page handout to be given out at events is being <br />designed and completed by a volunteer who will be given a free ticket to the <br />Holiday Home Tour as a thank you note. Donna Hauswald solicited ideas <br />relating to Louisville and its history to use for the Kids' Page. <br />C. Events and Fundraising <br />1. New postcards and framed posters based on two historic postcards in the <br />Museum's collection are ready for sale. Postcards: $1.00, unframed <br />posters, $10.00 and framed posters, $30.00. <br />2. Taste of Louisville preparations and staffing were completed <br />3. Fundraising Committee meeting will be held on July 6,2007, 10:30 a.m. <br />at the Spruce Room or the Library. <br />4. Fall Festival Silent Auction - every Commission member is asked to <br />acquire two auction items. <br />D. Membership <br />1. Quarterly tours of the Museum for Balfour residents is being arranged <br />2. Stickers of membership for the business windows of Business Sponsors <br />are being pursued. <br />3. Promotion of Society memberships as gift items was discussed. <br />4. A mailing of membership application information for new homeowners is <br />being pursued. <br />5. It was decided that each Commission member may give complimentary <br />memberships to two individuals or families of their choice, with the goal of <br />converting complementary members to paid memberships. Commission <br />members are requested to give the names and addresses of their two <br />recipients to Bridget Bacon prior to or at the July meeting. <br />6. A goal of 50% increase in business sponsorships and 25% in individual or <br />family memberships were set for the 2007 year. <br />E. Volunteers <br />1. Volunteers are reminded to wear their red shirts and name tags at all <br />events <br />2. Commission members were asked to think ahead to volunteer duties <br />during the Labor Day/Fall Festival. <br />F. Public Relations <br />
