<br />Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />June 20, 2007 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br />Lewis noted that in 2006 the City Council asked the Commission to also look into <br />incentives for Commercial properties. Muth noted a possible fayade program for <br />downtown and will get additional information. She added that the Business Retention & <br />Development Committee may be asking for a storefront grant program that this can be <br />linked with. <br /> <br />Koertje will also bring materials and information on the Main Street Program for the July <br />meeting to see how it may help with commercial incentives. <br /> <br />920 Main Street - Joe's Market - Muth reported that a requirement of the.. ,,: <br />Main Street is the landmarking of Joe's Market. The owner is required to ap'ply f <br />landmark status prior to beginning construction on 932 Main Street. <br /> <br /> <br />Change in Meeting Start Time - This item was at the request of Mc namin who <br />inquired about moving the meeting start time earlier. Members agreed .. ,at they would <br />prefer to keep the start time at 7:00 PM but would work harder to keep tR~ meetings <br />shorter and on track. <br /> <br />Demolition Review Requests - None <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Planning Department Referrals - None <br /> <br />Updates: <br />. Harney-Lastoka Open Space - Location/Use of Ms. Downer's Cabins <br />Muth reported she had no new information at this time. The Commission <br />discussed the possibility of w . letter of support for the project. Members <br />were in agreement that the f e would be to preserve the cabins on site on <br />Lee Avenue and that this pos should not be ruled out. Members also <br />expressed concern over the problem of long-term financing of an interpretive site <br />regardless of if the, moved or not. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Members thought t strategy for the long-term maintenance and <br />preservatio f the cabins would be for Jean Morgan to start a non-profit <br />organiz . would have oversight of the cabins regardless of their final <br />location. uld free them from City regulations and allow them to collect <br />money with xempt status. Lewis will draft a letter for comments from the <br />Commission. <br />Water Treatment Plant - Muth reported that they Public Works Department <br />un to look at costs for alternatives uses for the building. Tofte expressed <br />ncern over who would be determining the alternative uses. Muth noted that all <br />sts will be obtained from a contractor not City staff. <br /> <br />. Mine Marker Design - Muth had no new information to report. Members offered <br />their time to work on this project. <br /> <br />. "Why Preserve" Pamphlet - Muth had no new information to report <br /> <br />Items from Staff - Muth reported that the Historical Commission is currently getting bids <br />for repainting of the Jacoe Store and the Tomeo House at the Museum.
