BRaD <br />Meeting Summary <br />September 6, 2011 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br />Michal Menaker asked about the B- Bike program, and Audrey DeBarros and Troy Russ replied <br />that a grant has been applied for but not awarded yet. US36 Commuting Solutions met with Kiosk <br />and each bicycle station will cost $30,000, and the plan would be to have these bike stations <br />available for the B Cycle System which still has no vendor. <br />RETENTION MEETINGS: <br />Gaiam - Michael Menaker reported that Gaiam has completely transformed the old <br />Neodata building . They have 140 full-time employees and wish to sub-lease to their solar <br />division. Gaiam is a sponsor for the Street Faire, and they are happy to be in Louisville. <br /> Divine Canine - Hank Dalton reported this company has completed their move to the old <br />rental center. It’s a clean, full-service kennel and canine daycare facility with a capacity of <br />75 dogs for daycare/boarding. They are happy to be in their new location. <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIC PLAN – Bonnie Star <br />Bonnie reviewed for 2011-2012. Committee members gave their corrections/additions to the <br />document. Member Dalton moved to approve, however, Michael Menaker had additional <br />comments. He asked how do we envision going forward with the grain elevator? There is a need <br />to focus on Centennial Valley and felt it was necessary for staff to discuss an urban renewal area <br />in Centennial Valley. Chair Sackett commented on the vacant Sam’s building and recognizes the <br />need for Centennial Valley. Bonnie reviewed all the changes to the document, and will update as <br />needed, and she will bring an updated copy to next meeting. <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT UPDATE – Bonnie Star <br /> Money Magazine – City of Louisville #1 Place to Live <br /> Louisville Book by Wayne Lee and Maggie Snyder – gave ideas for use of the book. The <br />book has been out for 2 weeks and is available for purchase, there will be a signing at the <br />Farmers Market, cost is $35.00, 1500 have been printed and 600 sold <br /> Troy Russ announced that Atkins and Winston has been selected as the firm to conduct <br />the Highway 42 and Underpass Study. This item will go to Council in 2 weeks. <br /> Book Seller in place and looking for tenant for the northern space <br /> Tussey building for lease at $2,000/month <br /> Beer brewing operations looking at various locations <br /> Bioscience/incubators looking for location in CTC – scheduled for 10/25 study session <br /> Old Rite Aid/Checker building – possible tenant wants more visibility to the front of the <br />building. Bonnie worked with City staff on a possible tree removal and she’ll take before <br />and after photos <br /> Little action on the old A&W building – Bonnie has contacted a breakfast restaurant but not <br />currently interested but maybe in a year <br /> Via Toscana – Visited with staff to discuss expansion plan <br /> Pizza place going into the same center <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS – <br />th <br />Shelley Angell, Chamber - Business Showcase on September 29 at the Gatehouse in Lafayette <br />from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. – 50 to 60 businesses will be attending. <br /> <br />
