Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 18, 2011 <br />Page 2 of 7 <br /> <br />Applicant, Bob Dressler, was not present. <br />Tofte arrived at the meeting at 7:20 p.m. <br />Public Comments – none heard. <br />Commission Comments <br />Lewis stated subpar electrical is very dangerous and should be replaced. <br />Fasick stated she agreed. <br />Koertje stated he was in favor but wanted the applicant to remember grants should not be <br />“after the fact”, they should not start the work until after the grant is approved. <br />Lewis made a motion to approve the request as presented. <br />Fasick seconded the motion. <br /> <br />Name Vote <br />Mike Koertje Yes <br />Heather Lewis Yes <br />Jessica Fasick Yes <br />Florian Speier Yes <br />Laurel Tofte Yes <br />Peter Stewart recused <br />Steve Poppitz Excused <br />Motion passed: 5 to 0 <br /> <br />McCartney stated he would contact the applicant and advise them of the City Council meeting <br />date. <br /> <br />NOTE: <br /> Stewart returned to the meeting. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGLandmark Request – 1021 Jefferson Avenue <br /> – <br />McCartney presented the packet material. <br />Deb Kulcsar and David Darst, applicants, did not make a presentation but were available for <br />questioning. <br />Public Comment – none. <br />Commission Comments <br />Lewis recommended to change the name of the house from Sottley to “Sotteli”. The reason is <br />“Sottley” was the Americanized version of “Sotteli”. <br />McCartney agreed. <br />Koertje stated the house has been well maintained and the social significance is strong. He <br />also agrees with the name change. <br />Lewis stated the house has good architectural integrity with good detailing. She supports the <br />landmark request. <br /> <br />
