Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 18, 2011 <br />Page 5 of 7 <br /> <br />Tofte commented this was a very detailed application. <br />Koertje asked if the Spear approved of a wood door. <br />Spear answered in the affirmative. <br />Speier stated he too was in favor of a wood door. <br />Lewis agreed. <br />Koertje commented painting is one of the elements highlighted for the $5,000 Incentive. <br />Stewart stated even though the rear door is not visible to the public it should be permitted as a <br />grant cost. <br />Lewis added the replacement door is not of 1950’s style it is okay for the structure. <br />Stewart stated the half glass design is adequate. <br />Koertje moved and Tofte seconded a motion to approve the grant request as presented. <br /> <br />Name Vote <br />Mike Koertje Yes <br />Heather Lewis Yes <br />Jessica Fasick Yes <br />Florian Speier Yes <br />Peter Stewart Yes <br />Laurel Tofte Yes <br />Steve Poppitz Excused <br />Motion passed: 6 to 0 <br /> <br />Discussion – Joint LRC, BRaD, Planning Commission and City Council study <br />session – July 12, 2011 <br />Stewart opened the discussion. <br />Koertje thanked staff for assistance. <br />Tofte stated she thought the HPC received respect from the City Council. <br />Koertje added it was a very civil meeting. <br />Discussion ensued as to how to be more proactive than reactive. <br />Stewart recommended HPC move forward on amendments to the demo process and <br />commercial incentives. <br />Lewis inquired if HPC should hold a roundtable discussion for developers regarding the <br />commercial incentives. <br />Koertje stated he believed there has been plenty of comment on the incentives. <br />Fasick stated HPC should consider grant caps. <br />Speier agreed and added there should be a matching fund requirement. <br />Tofte added the application form should include information on what work has been <br />done to show the investment already made in the property. <br />Koertje recommended a workshop or special meeting to discuss this topic. <br /> <br />
