repair, moving, removal, conversion, demolition, occupancy, eqqipment, use, height, area, and maintenance of buildings and structures for the purpose of protecting the public health, safety, and general welfare. SECTION J. The following amendments and deletions are made to the Uniform Building Code, 1976 edition, as amended: a. Section JOJ(a) of the Uniform Building Code, 1976 edition is hereby amended to delete the following from "Table No. J-A Building Permit Fees" to-wit: Total Valuation Fee $1.00 to $500.00 $.5.00 and to add in replacement thereof: Total Valuation Fee o to $2.50.00 None $2.50.00 to $.500.00 $.5.00 b. The following paragraph is hereby added to Section JOJ of the Uniform Building Code, 1976 edition: (e) PE~MIT NOT REQUIRED. A Building Permit will NOT be required for the renovation, remodel and/or repair of an existing residence only where: (1) The work is to be done by the Owner or Occupant, and (2) The size of the structure will not be increased, and (J) The structural members (design) i.e. foundation, underpinning, bearing, or framing, will not be altered or changed, and (4) The scope of the work will exclude any electricals, plumbing and/or heating, and (.5) The TOTAL COST of labor and materials will not exceed $2.50.00. c.. The following paragraph is hereby deleted from Sections 608, 708, 808, 908, 1108, and 1208: "Exception: boilers or central heating plants where the largest piece of fuel equipment does not exceed 400,000 BTU per hour input." d. The following paragraph is hereby added to Section 1407(a): When, in the opinion of the Building Official, the ceiling heights will work a hardship on the builder to attain in a finished basement, the ceiling height of not less than 7 feet 6 inches may be reduced to 6 feet B inches. s. The term "self-closing" is hereby deleted from Section .50J (d) (4). -2-
