There have been 32 DA’s in
Boulder County since Statehood. The Office of the District Attorney prosecutes within the
th
20Judicial District according to State Law. There are 27 staff lawyers in the DA’s office who
work on crime prevention and the office works with seven different police departments in the
County. DA Staff members present at tonight’s Study Sessionwere Michael Foote, Deputy
DA who prosecutes felony cases related to economic crime, from civil cases to criminal
cases, and educates the public by visiting senior centers, and Jane Walsh, Deputy DA from
the Consumer Protection Division, has had 40-50 jury trials since starting with the
department, supervises a great group of volunteers and focuses on elder abuse and scams
that in her estimation affect people between the ages of 17 to 95.
Mayor Sisk commented that he supports the work the office does related to white collar crime
and senior abuse.
District Attorney Garnett commented the City of Louisville has the fewest criminal cases than
any other City in the jurisdiction, and complimented Bruce Goodman, Louisville Police Chief,
that he runs a good police department. District Attorney Garnett reminded everyone that his
office is there to work for the people and invited the public to call whenever they have a
question or concern.
Mayor ProTem Marsella asked if there is anyone from the District Attorney’s office that works
with seniors. Cindy Taylor, volunteer in the DA’s office, would be available to visit the
Louisville Senior Center.
Mayor Sisk thanked District Attorney Stan Garnett and said his presence has elevated the
DA’s office. Chief Goodman also said that since Stan came to the DA’s office, he has
brought the “real deal” to Boulder County.
Update/Discussion –HRIS Software Demo Preview –Mike Muckala and Eric Greenberg
from Epicor Software Corporation
Representatives from Epicor Software Corporation presented a demonstration on the Human
Resource Information System software that the City of Louisville is considering to purchase
this year. The system would be available to HR staff, supervisors and their employees to
access information, personal info and complete necessary input annually for insurance open
enrollment. The new software would eliminate the need for a paper process in Human
Resources and provide greater efficiency for staff to collect data. There is a budget planned
in 2011 for the purchase, but only enough to purchase the core system.
Mayor Sisk asked about security protection. Epicor assured the Mayor they have all the
necessary fire walls in place for this Epicor-hosted environment, and they hire a third party
