DISCUSSION/DIRECTION - PROPOSED OPEN SPACE PARKS AND TRAILS <br /> ADVISORY BOARD <br /> <br />Brown reported that he had contact with individuals that had expertise in open space and <br />trails, which whom provided constructive suggestions on the last proposal put forth by <br />Council Mayer. Brown added many of those such suggestions to the proposal that has <br />been circulated to the City Council and to many key members of the Open Space <br />petitioners group. In Brown's opinion there was some progress towards getting an <br />Ordinance that effectively establishes in open space and parks and management <br />classification and direction to move forward into the future. He stated that he was <br />waiting on feedback from the group of petitioners, and requested Council comments and <br />direction to continue that input from the petitioner's group. <br /> <br />Mayer stated that he reviewed the revisions, and thanked Councilman Brown for his hard <br />work. He emphasized that his proposal was simply a draft and that the additions made <br />were positive. He stated that this would be a work in progress, and something that <br />Louisville could be proud of. <br /> <br />Levihn asked if there was any flexibility to the February 1, 2000, first reading of the <br />proposed Ordinance. <br /> <br />Attorney Light recommended that the Council have first reading on the February 1, 2000 <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Levihn asked Brown if a timeline has been established. <br /> <br />Brown stated that specific guidelines have not been established, and that the petitioners' <br />have asked for time to review the draft and bring forth their suggestions. Brown <br />commended Councilman Mayer and the City Council and the petitioners on their work. <br />He felt that there is a spirit of cooperation, in moving forward. <br /> <br />Sisk commended Brown and the Open Space petitioners on the progress of the proposal. <br /> <br />Davidson suggested that Council instruct the City Attorney to write an Ordinance for the <br />February 1st meeting. He asked Brown if he felt that the Open Space Petitioner's would <br />have their input within that timeframe. <br /> <br />Brown stated that it was his hope that the petitioner's would be prepared to meet and <br />discuss suggested changes within that timeframe. <br /> <br />Davidson directed the City Attorney to write an Ordinance based on the material <br />provided by Councilman Brown's material.
