The front stone retaining wall was built prior to 1932. The
applicant and owners are Robert Dressler and Rosann Messere.
"Designation of a landmark or historic district may be amended to add features or
property to the site or district under the procedures prescribed by this chapter for initial
• designations." The front retaining wall has been a feature on this property since at least
1932. The wall is currently stucco covered. If the requested landmarking and restoration
grant is approved, the applicant will seek to have the stucco removed and the stone wall
returned to its historical condition.
Staff recommended approval of the request to the proposed amendment to the historic
landmark designation for the Ball House located at 1117 Jefferson Avenue include the
street facing retaining wall and its restoration with two conditions.
1. The City shall draft a License Agreement to allow for the retaining wall to remain
in the Jefferson Avenue right of way.
2. This amendment to the original landmark designation does not permit the
applicant to receive any additional $1,000 and $5,000 incentives from the Historic
Preservation Fund (HPF) as they have already utilized these incentives
previously.
Mayor Sisk requested public comment and hearing none, closed the public hearing.
MOTION: Councilor Muckle moved to approve Resolution No. 59, Series 2011,
seconded by Councilor Clabots.
