CITY OF LOUISVILLE ORDINANCE NO. 462 AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE LICENSING AND USE OF BICYCLES WITHIN THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO AND PROVIDING PEN- ALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF. THAT WHEREAS, the City Council, the City of Louisville, Colorado finds that it is in the best interests of the citizens of Louisville to provide for the regulations, use and licensing of bicycles within the City of Louisville; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: Section 1. That thl:! Municipal Code of the City of Louisville, Colorado is hereby amended to add the following Chapter 3l-A regulations for bicycles. Chapter 3l-A Regulations for Bicycles Section 3l~A-l Effect of Regulations (a) It is a violation of this chapter for any per- son to do any act forbidden or fail to perform any act required in this chapter. (b) No parent iDf any minor child and no guardian of any mi nor ward shall authori ze or knowi ngly permit any such minor child or ward to violate any of the provisions of this chapter. (c) This article shall apply whenever a bicycle is operated upon any street or upon any public path set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles, subject to those exceptions stated herein. Section 3l-A-2 Traffic Laws Apply to Persons Riding Bicycles (a) Every person riding a bicycle upon the street shall be subject to all of the duties as are now or hereafter made applicable to the driver of a vehicle as provided by or- dinance now in effect or as may hereafter be adopted ex- cept as to those provisions of this chapter which by their nature have no application. (b) Every person driving or operating a vehicle, a bicycle or other vehicular device, whether propelled by motor power, muscular power, or otherwise, shall be subject to and shall in all respects observe the same duties and obligations regarding persons driving, operating or riding bicycles, as are now or hereafter required by ordinances of the City of Louisville to be observed as to persons driving or operating vehicles. Section 3l-A-3 Obedience to Traffic-Control Devices (a) All persons operating a bicycle shall obey the instruc- tions of official traffic-control signals, signs and other control devices applicable to vehicles, unless otherwise directed by a police officer.
