<br />CITY OF LOUISVILLE <br />ORDINANCE NO. 462 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE LICENSING AND USE OF BICYCLES <br />WITHIN THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO AND PROVIDING PEN- <br />ALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF. <br /> <br />THAT WHEREAS, the City Council, the City of Louisville, Colorado <br /> <br />finds that it is in the best interests of the citizens of Louisville to <br /> <br />provide for the regulations, use and licensing of bicycles within the <br /> <br />City of Louisville; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> <br />OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That thl:! Municipal Code of the City of Louisville, <br /> <br />Colorado is hereby amended to add the following Chapter 3l-A regulations <br /> <br />for bicycles. <br /> <br />Chapter 3l-A Regulations for Bicycles <br /> <br />Section 3l~A-l Effect of Regulations <br /> <br />(a) It is a violation of this chapter for any per- <br />son to do any act forbidden or fail to perform any <br />act required in this chapter. <br /> <br />(b) No parent iDf any minor child and no guardian of <br />any mi nor ward shall authori ze or knowi ngly permit any such <br />minor child or ward to violate any of the provisions of <br />this chapter. <br /> <br />(c) This article shall apply whenever a bicycle is <br />operated upon any street or upon any public path set <br />aside for the exclusive use of bicycles, subject to <br />those exceptions stated herein. <br /> <br />Section 3l-A-2 Traffic Laws Apply to Persons Riding Bicycles <br /> <br />(a) Every person riding a bicycle upon the street shall <br />be subject to all of the duties as are now or hereafter made <br />applicable to the driver of a vehicle as provided by or- <br />dinance now in effect or as may hereafter be adopted ex- <br />cept as to those provisions of this chapter which by <br />their nature have no application. <br /> <br />(b) Every person driving or operating a vehicle, a bicycle <br />or other vehicular device, whether propelled by motor <br />power, muscular power, or otherwise, shall be subject to <br />and shall in all respects observe the same duties and <br />obligations regarding persons driving, operating or <br />riding bicycles, as are now or hereafter required by <br />ordinances of the City of Louisville to be observed as <br />to persons driving or operating vehicles. <br /> <br />Section 3l-A-3 Obedience to Traffic-Control Devices <br /> <br />(a) All persons operating a bicycle shall obey the instruc- <br />tions of official traffic-control signals, signs and other <br />control devices applicable to vehicles, unless otherwise <br />directed by a police officer. <br />
