<br />the Fire Department, and other persons whom he may designate
<br />in writing, shall enforce all ordinances of the jurisdiction
<br />pertaining to:
<br />
<br />(a) The prevention of fires.
<br />(b) The suppression or extinguishing of dangerous
<br />or hazardous fires.
<br />(c) The storage, use and handling of explosive, flammable,
<br />toxic, corrosive and other hazardous gaseous, solid and liquid
<br />materials.
<br />(d) The installation and maintenance of automatic, manual,
<br />and other private fire alarm systems and fire-extinguishing equip-
<br />ment.
<br />(e) The maintenance and regulation of fire escapes.
<br />(f) The maintenance of fire protection and the elimination
<br />of fire hazards on land and in buildings, structures, and other
<br />property, including those under construction.
<br />(g) The means and adequacy of each exit in the event of fire,
<br />from factories, schools, hotels, lodging houses, asylums, hospitals,
<br />churches, halls, theatres, amphitheatres, and all other places in
<br />which people work, live or congregate from time to time for any
<br />purpose.
<br />(h) The investigation of the cause, origin, and circumstances
<br />of fire.
<br />
<br />Section 3. Code Copies. At least three (3) copies of the Uniform
<br />Fire Code, 1973 Edition, of the International Conference of Building Officials
<br />and the Western Fire Chiefs Association, all certified to be true shall be
<br />
<br />available for reference by any interested person between the hours of 8:00
<br />
<br />A.M. and 4:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, holidays excepted. The IIFire
<br />
<br />Codell as finally adopted shall be available for sale to the public through
<br />the office of the City Clerk at a moderate price.
<br />Section 4. Penalties.
<br />
<br />Any person, firm, or corporation violating any of the
<br />provisions of this Code shall be deemed guilty of a
<br />separate offense for leach and every day or porti on thereof
<br />during which any violation of any of the provisions of this
<br />Code is committed, conti nued, or permitted, and upon convi ct-
<br />ion of any such violation such person shall be punishable by
<br />a fine of not more than $300 or by imprisonment for not more
<br />than 90 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
<br />
<br />Section 5. Savings Clause. If any part, section, subsection,
<br />sentence, clause, or phrase of this Ordinance or of the Fire Code adopted
<br />hereby is for any reason held to be invalid, such decisions shall not affect
<br />the validity of the remaining sections of this Ordinance or of said Fire
<br />Code; the City Council hereby declares that it would have passed this Ordin-
<br />
<br />ance and adopted said Fire Code in each part, section, subsection, sentence,
<br />
<br />clause or phrase thereof, irn~spective of the fact that anyone or more parts,
<br />
<br />sections, subsections, sentences, clauses or phrases be declared invalid.
