Discussion: Acquisition Opportunity
There is an opportunity in Coal Creek Business Park. There is a 5 acre
conservation easement, written into the easement is the opportunity for
the City to purchase the parcel if the Business Park changes hands.
The property cannot be built on or developed with the conservation
o
easement continuing.
The result is that the property would probably be in a comparable
o
undeveloped state, regardless of the ownership.
OSAB can make a recommendation to whether the property should be
acquired.
OSAB Recommendation:
Staff should not exercise the right of first refusal and should not
o
purchase the property at the asking price. (In favor: 4 board
members)
Staffshould exercise its right and purchase the property. (In favor:
o
2 board members)
The recommendation not to purchase carries.
X. Discussion: Community Gardens
The Community Gardens in Harney/Lastoka Open Space have been at
capacity for several years.
There is typically a waiting list every year.
o
Currently, there has been a focus on building restoration to support the
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) activity.
Staff is currently awaiting a feasibility study that would determine the
sources of water, water carriage, and costs for the CSA.
th
XI.
